Who we are

Darja (darja.app) is a quiz app for UPSC Prelims practice. This policy explains what we collect when you use it, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.

What we collect

  • Nothing, if you just play. You can play without an account. Your XP, streak, question history and settings stay in your browser's local storage.
  • An anonymous account ID is created so that progress can later move to a real account without being lost. It carries no name or contact details.
  • If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and a Google account ID with us. We use them only to create and recognise your account. We do not access your contacts, files, calendar or any other Google data.
  • If you sign in with email, we store your email address. Your password is held by Google Firebase Authentication and is never visible to us.
  • If you sign in with a mobile number, we store the number so a one-time code can be sent to it.
  • Game data: the username you choose, your XP, match results, per-topic bests and day streak.
  • Usage analytics: which screens and features are used (for example, that a match started and in which topic). These events carry an account ID and counters only. Names, email addresses and phone numbers are stripped before anything is sent, IP addresses are not recorded, and your browser's Do Not Track setting is honoured. You can switch them off for this device; see “Usage analytics” below.

What is public

The leaderboard is public. It shows your chosen username and your scores, never your name, email address or phone number. Everything else about your account is readable only by you.

Who processes it

  • Google Firebase: sign-in (Firebase Authentication) and the game database (Cloud Firestore, stored in Mumbai, India).
  • Vercel: hosts the website and serves its pages.
  • Mixpanel: product analytics, on the terms described above.

What we don't do

We do not sell your data, show ads, or share your information with anyone other than the services listed above, which process it on our behalf. Information received from Google is used only to sign you in, in line with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

How long we keep it

Account and game data are kept while your account exists. Match results are kept as a record of play. Clearing your browser's site data removes everything stored on your device.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and everything attached to it. Email privacy@darja.app from the address on your account, or tell us the number or username you signed up with, and we will act on it within 30 days.

Usage analytics

Usage analytics are on by default and can be switched off here, for this device. The choice is kept in your browser, so clearing its site data turns them back on.

Children

Darja is meant for UPSC aspirants and is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date below changes with it. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
